National Circus Award 2022!!!!

We’re so happy we hardly know how to explain it, and we want to thank everyone who has sent us congratulations and tokens of affection.

We always say this is a marathon. Well, it’s been over 33 years since I left the Institut del Teatre. And next year we’ll celebrate the 25th anniversary of my being a clown, since our first show, ‘De Pe a Pa’. And this is where it all begins.

This is a team effort, where everyone plays an indispensable role, so that those of us on stage shine as brightly as we can. And it’s impossible to name everyone who has taken part in this journey in one way or another. Many of them, as well as being true professionals, have over the years also become great friends. This recognition is for them too.

We are especially mindful, however, that it was Joan Busquets who believed in me from the very beginning, without asking where we wanted to go: his generosity in hours and hours of work was the best gift.

Awards help, especially in the toughest times, to keep going. They give you the energy that sometimes falters when everything feels so hard. But the best awards we can receive are the cheers and applause of the audience. These are the essential elements that make this profession meaningful. A profession that is uncertain and tough, yet at the same time precious and generous, which we love like no other.

That’s why we’ll carry on with the same enthusiasm, touring our shows to every theatre (big, small, beautiful, ugly, new, old…) that will have us. Today we’re happy to savour this moment of glory that we know is fleeting. Glory is like that, and so is hell.

We know where we stand in this marathon, on the middle path, always looking ahead, savouring every stretch and every crossroads. We have never sought shortcuts or easy routes. We have always tried to follow our impulses from the most honest place.

See you at the theatres!
